What kinds of meals may be served?

Breakfast consists of a serving of milk, vegetable or fruit, meat or meat alternate and/or bread/grain. Lunch and Dinner consists of serving five different components: milk, meat or meat alternate, vegetable, fruit, and a bread/grain. Snacks include two different servings of the five components: milk, meat or meat alternate, vegetable, fruit or bread/grain.

Who is eligible for CACFP?

Children until age 13. Certain categories of children under special circumstances may apply.

How does CACFP work?

CACFP reimburses participating licensed child care homes for serving nutritious meals. It is administered at the Federal level by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and at the State level by the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE).

A child care provider who is licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and operating the child care in a home is eligible to participate in the CACFP. There is no cost to a provider. All homes participate in the CACFP under a sponsoring organization. Sponsoring organizations play a critical role in supporting home child care providers through training, technical assistance, and monitoring.

Why is being a part of the CACFP important?

CACFP & First Choice Support Services, Inc. promote the philosophy that proper nutrition plays a vital role in the mental, physical, and emotional growth of children. A healthy child has a better chance of accomplishing the many tasks that confront him/her than an undernourished child.

Eating habits during childhood influence food choices for a lifetime. By providing education and financial assistance to child care homes, we are able to reach out to thousands of children and improve the quality of their meals & lives. We are child advocates inspired to improve nutrition in child care homes throughout Kansas in the lives of children.

How does it work?

All paperwork is completed daily by hand or online, which makes up your monthly claim. All claims are to be mailed or emailed into the office on the first working day of the month to be processed. Your reimbursement check will be mailed/deposited the day after we receive the federal funds from the state. It is that simple.

This Institution is an equal opportunity provider.
